Deaconess Elizabeth Tisdale
Our Newly Appointed "Mother of the Church"
Vital to our church ministry, the Mother of the Church has long been recognized as a person of importance. It had been two years since we had the honor of having someone in that role. Deaconess Frances Hicks held the position for many years until her passing in February of 2023.
Early in the year, Pastor Williams expressed a desire to have that position filled again. Given that, and with the full support of the Joint Board and the Church Members at lodge, it was unanimously voted to make Deaconess Elizabeth Tisdale our new “Mother of the Church”. On August 10,2025 Deaconess Tisdale was elevated to that position. It was because of her unwavering faith, nurturing spirt and steadfast commitment to the Body of Christ that the church extended and she accepted this assignment.
Please join us as we pray many blessings over her life and may she be able to fill this role as only she can. A woman of virtue is true joy to behold.
Congratulations Church Mother

Words of Encouragement
"I am the vine and you are the branches. Those who remain in me, and I in them, will bear much fruit: for you can do nothing without me. Those who do not remain in me are thrown out like a branch and dry up; such branches are gathered up and thrown into the fire, where they are burned. If you remain in me and my words remain in you, then you will ask for anything you wish, and you shall have it. My Father's glory is shown by you bearing much fruit; and in this way you become my disciples. I love you just as the Father loves me; remain in my love."
St. John 15:5-9 (Good News Translation)

Trustee Ministry
(submitted by Trustee Larry Goodwyn)
What doth it profit, my brethren, though a man say he hath faith, and have not works? can faith save him? James 2:14
The Trustee Ministry has been busy the entire year with the general upkeep of the church property. As with anything that is 160 years old, there are many challenges that come with said upkeep. We are pleased to announce the completion of our sanctuary carpet replacement in January. Additionally, In June repairs were made to the roof and the metal flashing around the fascia of the building, and our parking lot was seal coated and restriped. These enhancements were necessary in maintaining the integrity of the building. As always, with everyone’s generous support, we will continue to make these ongoing repairs moving into the coming year. There are several projects on the schedule for 2026 to include sidewalk concrete repair or replacement if necessary, and enhanced security in and around the church.
Our hearts were sadden in June as we endured the passing of Trustee Geraldine Coleman. Sister Coleman was truly a beloved and dedicated member of this branch of Zion. She will be missed.
Lastly, on behalf of Trustees Harry Smith, Tawanda Jefferson, Demetria Scott, Alice Goodwyn, Ricky Coleman and respectfully yours Larry Goodwyn . . . we wish everyone the best in the coming New Year.

Small Straws In A Soft Wind
by Marsha Burns
Stay current. You might need to run to catch up, but it will be worth the effort. Trying to live in the past never works. Live today by paying attention to what is and what needs to be done now so that you can be obedient to My leading, says the Lord. Do your best to live and walk in the Spirit.
Psalm 16:11 You will show me the path of life; in Your presence is fullness of joy; at Your right hand are pleasures forevermore.

The Cemetery is a particular part of our church ministry. Upkeep and maintenance of the grounds and surrounding acres are a significant part of our budget. We want to thank all members and families who contributed to our cemetery rally. Our rally will take place on the 4th Sunday in April.
Anyone with a loved one buried in the Cemetery, we are asking that you, please be a blessing to this rally with a donation of your choice. We will continue to take care of our Cemetery correctly, and we pray God’s continued blessings on all of you.

KEEP DRIVING
A lady was driving along with her father.
They came upon a storm, and the young lady asked her father, What should I do?"
He said "keep driving".. Cars began to pull over to the side, the storm was getting worse.
"What should I do." The young lady asked?
"Keep driving," her father replied.
On up a few feet, she noticed that eighteen wheelers were also pulling over. She told her dad, "I must pull over, I can barely see ahead. It is terrible, and everyone is pulling over!"
Her father told her, "Don't give up, just keep driving!"
Now the storm was terrible, but she never stopped driving, and soon she could see a little more clearly. After a couple of miles she was again on dry land, and the sun came out.
Her father said, "Now you can pull over and get out."
She said "But why now?"
He said "When you get out, look back at all the people that gave up and are still in the storm,
because you never gave up your storm is now over.
This is a testimony for anyone who is going through "hard times".
Just because everyone else, even the strongest, gives up.
You don't have to...if you keep going,
soon your storm will be over and the sun will shine upon your face again.
Never give up, because GOD will never give up on you!
"I can do all things through Christ, who strengthens me!"
